Clyde May's Whiskey Mint Julep POPtails from King Of Pops Sweet Savant

Well, I just got what may be the nicest Mother’s day gift and it wasn’t from my kids (ssshhhh, don’t tell them I said that). I received a special delivery from Clyde May’s Whiskey, they sent over a bottle of their Alabama style Whiskey and a batch of POPtails, boozy popsicles, from King of Pops. They sure know the way to this woman’s heart.

What’s Alabama style you may ask…well, I’ll tell ya. Clyde May’s adds dried apple peels to their charred oak barrels imparting a distinctive green apple taste, making the whiskey Alabama style. The natural green apple flavor goes nicely with the rich caramel taste of this spirit, brightening it up a bit.

The folks over at Clyde May’s collaborated with Atlanta’s King OF Pops and  sent over a couple POPtails and some recipes for me to share. Here’s the Mint Julep POPtails recipe. These pops are minty and refreshing, perfect for a hot Summer afternoon on the patio.

Here’s another recipe for Clyde + Coke POPtails. Isn’t that a perfect tribute to Atlanta. The ginger juice adds a spicy bite to this dessert giving it a nice counterpoint to the sweetness. These pops are perfect to make for a Summer party since you have to make them in advance and store them in your freezer. Just pull them out after dinner and they’re ready to go.

I’ve never heard of Clyde Mays. I’m out of touch though, I admit it, lol. I’m sure my oldest two sons (grown) would get a kick out of these…hahaha literally and figuratively. 😉

This is a great idea. It would be refreshing on a hot evening BBQ. I will have to try making some.

Sounds like a great popsicle. I never thought about an adult popsicle.

This popsicle looks like so much fun! I would have loved to have made them for the Kentucky Derby too.

That’s awesome! I used to watch my popcicle intake for calories. Now I’ll have to be careful not to get too buzzed at our next cookout. Thanks!
