Keto Friendly Comeback Sauce is a fantastic low carb dip, dressing, and spread. Great with veggies, fish, meat, you’ll want to put it on EVERYTHING!

Comeback sauce is a mayonnaise-based classic spread/dip/dressing in the southern U.S. often served with peel and eat shrimp. Use a sugar-free mayo like that good old southern classic, Duke’s. Whole Food’s 365 Organic brand is also sugar-free. The traditional recipe contains chili sauce which is made with tomato paste and corn syrup, two high carbohydrate ingredients. To make my comeback sauce a keto friendly recipe I omit the chili sauce and increase the hot sauce, just be sure to check the ingredients on the hot sauce to be sure it doesn’t contain any carbs.

A keto diet is basically a high fat/low carbohydrate/moderate protein diet. I’ll do a separate post or a video (are you following me on Youtube?) explaining the whole plan. So far I’ve lost 21 pounds by the end of my first month.

Some brands of Worcestershire sauce contain a few carbs, Lea & Perrins does Heinz does not although they both contain some form of sugar in small amounts. Just be aware if you are on a strict low carbohydrate diet.

My favorite way to serve keto friendly comeback sauce is with chilled, poached shrimp, celery, and lettuce. It’s a perfect party dish too. Make a platter in advance, store it in the fridge covered with plastic wrap and pull it out when you’re ready. Your guests will love it whether they are on a keto diet or not.

Keto Friendly Comeback Sauce

Serves: 1 and ½ cups
 
Ingredients
  • 1 cup mayonnaise (sugar-free)
  • 2-4 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust the amount according to your taste and the heat level you like)
  • ¼ cup grapeseed or vegetable oil (optional, if you want a thinner sauce)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
  1. Mix ingredients until well combined. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week
