As chef and creator of Sweet Savant, Demetra Overton has been cooking and entertaining professionally since 1995, in 2005 Demetra began Sweet Savant, a personal chef company, to fulfill her creative needs. As a personal chef, Demetra enjoys customizing unique menus for her clients using fresh ingredients. Demetra also instructs classes, does product and recipe testing as well as cooking demonstrations to introduce clients to new ingredients and teach them how to put a new spin on old favorites.
Demetra has worked for such esteemed establishments such as Abigail Kirsch at Tappan Hill in Tarrytown, NY and The Ritz-Carlton hotel in Buckhead, GA. As a graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education, Demetra is skilled in a wide variety of cooking techniques from both the savory and sweet sides of the kitchen.
The Sweet Savant Blog was created to share Chef Demetra Overton’s culinary inspirations from local farms, markets and fellow chefs as well as to provide honest product reviews and helpful tips. Demetra has a lifelong passion for food and flavor and intends to open her own restaurant in the near future…keep an eye on her progress here.
