Preheat the oven to 200 degrees to keep the French toast warm
Beat the eggs, milk, sugar, bourbon, orange zest, and salt together in a large bowl
Heat a pan or griddle over a medium flame
Coat the griddle with 1 teaspoon of butter
Work in batches of 2 or 3, don't dip all of the bread at once
Dip the bread into the egg mixture for 15 seconds per side
Cook the French toast on the buttered griddle for 3-4 minutes per side
Remove the finished French toast to a wired rack and keep it warm in the oven until you finish the rest of the batches
Serve with fruit and syrup
