The Sweet Savant kitchen featured in Atlanta Home Improvement Magazine

Hi Sweets!

My kitchen is featured in the September 2014 issue of Atlanta Home Improvement Magazine.

The multi-level custom countertop was designed for me by my husband and architect Corey Overton (Five Lions Design).  Countertops are a  quartz surface by Cambria Stone in  Cardif Cream (the light colored one) and Oakhampton (the dark countertop color).
The cabinets are from Ikea-Nexus doors in the black/brown finish (discontinued for kitchens) with Korrekt pulls (also discontinued).
I’ll give a more in depth kitchen tour that will cover appliances and other finishes in the near future.
~Much Love

Great blog! I just came across it while googling Oakhampton Cambria of all things. I was actually trying to find out about the durability of this particular color of Cambria. I have my heart set on Oakhampton, but our installer is trying to steer us away from it. He said that it tends to scratch and stain more than other Cambria colors. I can’t find anyone who has had those issues, but I have read that some slabs have a filmy appearance caused by some irregularity within the stone. I was hoping to come across someone who has actually lived with the countertop to find out what the real story is, and I ended up finding your blog! Would you mind telling me what you think of the Oakhampton? It looks beautiful in the photos. How do you like it? Would you choose it again?

I love my counters and have very few issues with them. The edges can chip if you hit it just right, say with a mug or something. I have had no problem with staining and jut a bit with film if you wash it off with dish soap and water, but a quick rinse of hot water usually clears it up. Your counter dealer may have a special cleaner for extra shine if necessary.
