Let me tell you, I had a BLAST at Charleston Wine and Food Festival. Events take place all over the city and beyond.

Many thanks to Charleston Wine and Food Festival 2016 for the tickets to this fantastic event. I’ll let my pictures do most of the talking, let’s begin with THE ROASTED GOAT event held in a tented lot on the side of High Wire Distilling Co.

They didn’t call this event the Roasted Goat for nothing! Goat + an open fire = absolute DELICIOUSNESS! There were lots of other choices if goat wasn’t your thing. Atlanta based chef Kevin Rathbun served up some delicious steak, there were several vegetarian offerings as well as chicken. No one went hungry

They had a fantastic DJ spinning all sorts off good stuff ( I nearly fell out when he played Biz Markie!)  Shardé Thomas and Rising Stars Fife & Drum Band were FANTASTIC!!

Hot Chicken thighs from Nashville’s Urban Grub were a real treat

My favorite bite of the night wasn’t goat, it wasn’t meat at all. It was this tasty Crispy Cauliflower with Goats Milk Cheese Olivade Aioli by chef Alex Harrell of Restaurant Angeline- New Orleans, LA.. He gave me a few tips on how to make it at home so I’m going to try to recreate the dish. I’ll post the results ASAP.

The next afternoon (because it took me that long to recover) I headed out to The Cigar Factory for “A Bourbon Affair:Smoke + Brown Water”. The Cigar Factory is a sprawling five story brick building built in 1881 as a textile mill.

From there it became a cigar manufacturing facility and now it’s been renovated and houses retail, restaurants, event spaces and a few offices (Garden and Gun magazine is housed there)

We were greeted with cigars and bourbon

I always have a good time in Charleston. We go a couple of times a year. With great food, shopping and beaches close by it’s a fantastic place to visit. Not to mention all of the historic sites and architecture
