I used a rack of St. Lous style ribs but both baby back and spare ribs would work well in this recipe. Do you want to know the difference between St. Louis style, baby back, and spare ribs? Well, I’ve got a video on that too! Check out my PORK RIBS 101 video on YouTube

FIRST, remove the membrane

Before you start any rib recipe you should remove the membrane from the back of the rack. The membrane does not break down easily and makes the ribs harder to chew. Make a little incision to separate the membrane from the rack. Get a paper towel to pull the membrane off, it can be difficult to grab. I demonstrate how to do it in the Oven BBQ Ribs with BLACKBERRY BOURBON BBQ SAUCE video.

Here’s another recipe I think you might like. Air Fryer baby back ribsĀ

You can make the ribs in the air fryer and use my homemade blackberry bourbon barbecue sauce recipe on them.

NEXT, season the ribs

Mix up my rib seasoning in the recipe below and rub it into the ribs. Be sure to season both sides for maximum flavor!

WRAP the ribs

Wrap the ribs in foil to seal the juices in then bake them until they are nice and tender

WHIP up a batch of sauce

While the ribs are cooking make a batch of sauce. Mix all of the sauce ingredients together before you put it on the heat. I don’t want anyone to add bourbon over an open flame, that could be a recipe for DISASTER! Alcohol vapors will flare up near the flame. Simmer the sauce, strain it and let it cool before you brush it onto the ribs

SAUCE the ribs

Let the ribs cook wrapped in foil for a bit so they will be easier to handle, then brush both sides of the ribs with a layer of sauce then broil them for a minute or two. Watch them closely so they don’t burn.
