SHARE YOUR FAVORITE BARBECUE MEMORIES, RECIPES AND PLAYLISTS FOR A CHANCE TO WIN A $100 WALMART GIFT CARD AND A BARBECUE KIT
Summer has started to wind down, the kids will be heading back to school in a few short weeks but there’s still time to get outside and grill. I actually prefer to grill in the fall. Cooler temperatures and fewer bugs are a big plus. Here in the South we have great grilling weather nearly year round. We’re planning to have an end of summer barbecue to celebrate those last few hot days of freedom before the school bell rings. I’m going to toss a few pork chops on the grill but not before I brine them (like in this MAPLE SYRUP BRINED PORK CHOP RECIPE) rub them with some savory spices like in this (CHORIZO SPICED GRILLED PORK CHOPS RECIPE). I’ll add lots of healthy vegetables to the grill like zucchini with olive oil and thyme and fresh summer corn.
My husband and I always come up with a banging’ playlist comprised of mostly 90’s east coast hip hop (Biggie Gimme One More Chance) a little Tupac is included for my west coast friends. Some Dancehall Reggae music adds great flavor to the rotation, (a little “Roots and Culture”) and just a bit of Pop-Justin Timberlake bringing sexy back really gets things jumpin’.
A great big punch bowl of sangria, some beer and lemonade for the teetotalers (actually sweet tea might be more appropriate).
I usually head out to the dollar store and pick up a bunch of outdoor toys- hula hoops, jump ropes, water guns (those are never really a good idea, someone who doesn’t want to get squirted ALWAYS gets squired…but they are SO much fun). I buy this stuff with the kids in mind but as the party goes on a few adults grab the toys too.

August 6, 2015 at 12:32 am (9 years ago)Honestly, at backyard BBQs we always play the radio since it’s hooked up to our outdoor speakers. We don’t hand pick specific songs.

The hen was smokey black and i took it to work and told co-workers we had to eat out for thanksgiving cause
I had shrunk our turkey and my wife was mad at me. Lol, blond girl I worked with beleived me even to point out that the legs and wings had shrunk to bones and all.

August 3, 2015 at 11:36 pm (9 years ago)Our kids control the playlist at our barbecues, and in our home. Usually it is Taylor Swift or someone similar. I don’t really know the difference between many of them. They all sound the same to me.
