trim the fat from the brisket and cut into 2 inch cubes
season the brisket with salt, pepper, onion powder and granulated garlic
grill the brisket over the hot coals for 5 minutes, turning to brown
place a pan of water under the grates of the cool side of the grill
move the brisket to the cool side of the grill over the water pan
close the grill and smoke the brisket for 1 and 1/2 hours
mix the beef broth, ketchup, brown sugar, and balsamic vinegar together
chop the onion
add the brisket and chopped onion to the sauce mixture, cover and braise for 2-3 hours, until tender
