Gastronauts ASSEMBLE! The Charleston Wine + Food Festival Welcomes Georgia Chefs to share in the fun and festivities! Chefs from Georgia will join chefs from Charleston as well as the rest of the country and the world to bring us tasty bites, wine pairings, boozy cocktails and so much more.
Charleston Wine + Food will be held from March 2-6, 2016 in South Carolina. More information about Charleston Wine + Food here
Here’s a listing of Georgia chefs participating in Charleston Wine + Food and the events they’ll be participating in.
Chris Hall (Local Three, Common Quarter among others) The winner of 2015 Charleston Wine and Food Waffle House Smackdown returns to the Palmetto State for the festival this year. Hall may be a judge at the Waffle House competition at this year’s festival, I’ll check and let you know.
Kevin Rathbun (Rathbun’s, Rathbun Steak, Krog Bar) is participating in Halls Chophouse Signature Dinner a multi course meal with wine pairings. Chef rRathbun teams up with Halls Chophouse Executive Chef Matthew Niessner and Teresa D’Aurizio of ZD Winery for this Signature Dinner.
Drew Belline of no. 246 in Decatur will make the trip across state lines to participate in Charleston Wine and Food. I’m not sure what he’s working on for the festival, I’ll let you know as soon as I find out.
Duane Nutter, executive chef of One Flew South is participating in “Feast + Fire” where diners will be “whisked away to a private sea island accessible only by boat for this once-in-a-lifetime dinner”. This sounds AMAZING!! Chef Nutter is also participating in “The Roasted Goat” which is pretty self-explanatory I think. Cocktails will be provided by High Wire Distilling Co.
Chef Nutter practically got on his knees to get in this picture with me.
Mashama Bailey –The Grey, Savannah. Find out why Food and Wine named The Grey one of their “Restaurants of the Year” Mashama and I have similar backgrounds- both of us were born in the Bronx and raised in Queens and both of us attended the Institute of Culinary Education. Chef Bailey with four other fantastic female chefs will be participating in “North + South + East + West: Le Tour Des Femmes”
Nick Leahy of Saltyard is participating in “Pinot NV” where he and four other fabulous chefs will prepare delicious bites to accompany a parade of Pinots.
Steven Satterfield, Miller Union chef is participating in a couple of events but I’m most excited about the “Brosé Brunch”. I’ve been assured that you do not have to be a “bro” to attend, just a rosé lover. He’ll also participate in “Dining with Darioush” guaranteed to be a wine pairing dinner like no other.
Todd Ginsberg from The General Muir will be there but I don’t know the event he’ll participate in. I’ll let you know as soon as I find out. Check back soon!
Jonathan and Justin Fox of Fox Bros BBQ are scheduled to appear in an event called “Toasted: Up In Smoke” with nine other chefs. This BONANZA of barbecue is the perfect way to close the festival.
I had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan and Justin Fox of Fox Brothers Barbecue a few months ago
Todd Richards, of White Oak Kitchen, The Pig and the Pearl will be participating in “Feast + Fire” and “The Roasted Goat” along with Duane Nutter
Virginia Willis Chef and author of “Lighten Up Y’all” among other books will be participating in Fried Chicken for the Southern Soul presented by Veuve Clicquot. Fried chicken and Champagne COUNT ME IN!
Zeb Stevenson of Watershed will be participating in the Gospel Brunch. Family style dining, BRUNCH COCKTAILS and good soul stirring music. Sounds pretty sweet to me.
Charleston Wine + Food Festival Welcomes Georgia Chefs and I’m so glad they did. Stay tuned for more updates.
