Looking down on all the crazy rides that I would NEVER get on is the best part. You can watch people being flung out into the night sky on that crazy slingshot ride from a safe distance, and it is hilarious. Our cabin on the Skywheel was large enough to fit the four of us comfortably. The ride lasted about 10 minutes, take a look at the video below to see a bit of our ride.

Funnel cakes were eaten, then it was time to rest at the Sheridan. The next morning we drove about a half hour to the Sea Screamer to see those dolphins. Our tickets were reserved so we just had to go into Captain Juel’s Hurricane Restaurant to pay for them. We went back out to the side of the building to wait with the other passengers and we were all assaulted by hoards of some kind of tiny biting fly. They are probably attracted to the discarded oyster shells strewn on the ground but they feasted on us. It was definitely the lowlight of our visit. We constantly fanned ourselves to keep the biting flies away, some bug spray would probably help. The kind folks over at the Sea Screamer should really do something about that or at least warn us or something.

The actual boat ride was fun and FAST and you will get WET! We stayed seated for the first part of the ride and the guide pointed out interesting sights along the North/South Carolina coast…but no dolphins. We stood along the side of the boat to get a better view as we  went out farther into the ocean splashing in the waves but still…no dolphins. Animals are unpredictable so it’s understandable that they don’t always show up when you want them to. We headed back to Captain Juel’s restaurant after a while. We saw zero dolphins but had a really good time. Because of the dolphin sighting guarantee we were given a card for a free return trip on the Sea Screamer. We can keep going back until we see a dolphin. I would definitely take the Sea Screamer tour again.
