Try my sweet and spicy pecans recipe and these easy holiday entertaining tips. A big spread of fruit, cheese, charcuterie, crackers and bread will keep your guests full with very little work on your part. I picked up a Cheese Tray while I was shopping. Packed full of a variety of cheeses- Pepper Jack, Asiago, Cheddar Jack and Extra Sharp Cheddar – everything is already cut into the perfect sized slices for snacking, It’s a perfect shortcut. Cream cheese topped with pepper jelly is another tasty and easy appetizer. Your guests can spread it on slices of baguette or serve it with fresh crisp veggies.

I made these delicious sweet and spicy pecans to snack on with my cheese and fruit tray but they also make a fantastic gift for your friends to take home. You can make this recipe up to a week in advance and keep them in an airtight container until party time. Here’s how you make them:

  1. Beat an egg white for about a minute until foamy, toss the pecans in and stir to coat. Add your brown sugar, seasonings and spices.

3. Let the nuts cool completely and package them in small jars with lids. Decorate with colorful twine and CELEBRATE!

Sweet and Spicy Pecans

Cook Time 30 minutes
Total Time 40 minutes
Servings 3 cups

Ingredients
  

  • 1 egg white
  • 3 cups unsalted pecans
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1 teaspoon fresh chopped rosemary or 1/2 teaspoon dry rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper more if you like it HOT
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions
 

  • Pre heat your oven to 250 degrees
  • Line 2 sheet pans with parchment paper
  • Beat the egg white until foamy, about 1 minute
  • Add the pecans and stir to coat the pecans thoroughly with the egg whites
  • Mix the sugar, cinnamon, granulated garlic, rosemary, cayenne and salt together, add this to the pecans and coat the pecans with the sugar and spices
  • Spread the pecans in one layer on the parchment coated sheet pans
  • Bake for 20-30 minutes until dry
  • Store in an airtight container
